Red Carpet Q.and.A: Award-winning Journalist SHARON CARPENTER

The Date: 9/4/2K13
The Event: WNBA All-Star/Entrepreneur CAPPIE PONDEXTER's 3-year anniversary celebration of 4 SEASON STYLE MANAGEMENT
The Locale: Gansevoort Hotel, Meatpacking District, New York City

RG: What defines fashion from your perspective?

SC: Fashion to me is just a way of expressing yourself visually. It's about feeling good, feeling comfortable and looking good.

RG: With the recent success of the first season of VH1 reality TV series THE GOSSIP GAME, do you think it has catapulted your popularity in any way?

SC: Yes definitely! Reality TV is a beast, it really is, and fans are really passionate about it. We had tons and tons of viewers (over 1 million) per episode, and so a lot more people now know who I am. A lot of doors have opened up for me. THE GOSSIP GAME was an experimental-type of show because never before have we seen professional women on this level, and that was one reason as to why it was experimental in regards to us women who cover the stars and celebrities. There's never been an in-depth look into what they go through themselves behind-the-scenes.

RG: What does being 'in the spotlight' mean to you?

SC: I guess being in the spotlight means that you have to be a little careful when you're walking around the neighborhood and you're in a compromising position. People want to know who you are and take pictures. Also being in the spotlight is a good thing because it helps immensely in branding yourself.

RG: Which three artists define the essence of 'pure soul' in your opinion?

SC: Michael Jackson,  Mary J. Blige and Adele - the latter is 'soul from an unexpected place' - a White British woman with an amazingly soulful voice!
